Russo liked them so he pushed them, but they were ass. Oh, they also sucked in the WWF whether it's in the DOA or as the Blu's brothers, one of the worst teams ever."

The Dupp cup was just dumb and was really just trying to reinvent the wheel of hardcore matches and no one understood the rules. The characters were homophobic and incestuous so basically it mocked people from the south while also being offensive to queer folk and being gross as fuck. I'm not really sure if anything good can be said about the Dupps"

Being the put together as the sidekicks was not a promising start and frankly it was mostly downhill from there. A great example of just how much times have changed."

Unright wrote about Young Bucks:
[2.0] "I like how every Young Bucks match tells a story. It tells the story of "The Young Bucks were booked to win". They even get their opponents to help them tell that story because their opponents inevitably stop trying to win themselves and actively set up spots so that the Young Bucks win. Like the spot where their opponent stands around dazed for up to a minute while the Young Bucks pander to the crowd for way too long before they launch themselves in an unnecessary dive that nobody will bother to sell. Or the spot where opponents will visibly drop their character so the Young Bucks can try to hit a convoluted double-team move that just doesn't work. Sometimes it doesn't work because they botch the move badly, but sometimes it doesn't work because that sort of spot doesn't make sense in the "all wrestlers are trying to win" sense. But then you remember that the story of the match is "The Young Bucks were booked to win" and it's all okay. When things go bad they can just steal what made other people popular for the cheap pop from people that vote 10. Too bad that they try to pass themselves off as wrestlers, though."

I swear this is the most overrated tag team of all time, and it is not even close to me. They never deliver, they just have the most boring middle of the pack matches of all time. The Mandela effect was made off the backs of these guys, and the effect is believing that they are a hall of fame level tag team. Just absolute nothing has come from them inside the ring for me, just meh after meh after meh"

[2.0] "Oof. The original Dream Team saw immediate mild chemistry being cultivated into something profound and VERY enjoyable in near record time. Greg Valentine took Brutus Beefcake from obscurity to an enviable position. Then THIS happened. Who did Greg piss off? Who did Dino butter up? There was NO chemistry, in fact it seemed like Dino Bravo kept getting in the way, with his slowing things down to less than a crawl. Greg Valentine hated the pairing and yknow... I almost do as well. I don't "hate" this but I find no appreciation in it either. Aside from random jobs in the 90's, this is the low point of The Hammer's career."

Asuka and Charlotte are, according to me, the two best female wrestlers of this generation and I hopes they can have a strong reign and cool story. Charlotte has so much respect for Asuka and so does she. The past rivalry becoming a kind of friendship built from respect could had been truly cool. Unfortunately, and at this time, Asuka was just used as a victim who needed Charlotte to save her (despite the fact she was the Raw Champ) and a reason to Charlotte to get her Grand Slam."

Basham Brothers fit that bill. It's not the worst but have you ever tried eating a VERY stake cracker, meanwhile there's a whole unopened box only an arm's length away? Why? Just open the new box. Just watch a different tag team. If I rank a tag team low, that means they must EXTREMELY stink, please understand this. 1.5"

[3.0] "Okay. Im gonna be the odd one out here. This shouldve been a brief little thing between the two that shouldve already ended by All In or All Out. MJF was a white hot heel having beaten Bryan in the Iron Man, weaselling his way to victory in the 4 way, and cowering from Cole instead of doing the extra 5 mins. Why sacrifice your top heel for a goofy odd ball tag team story? I know that eventually Max will turn on Cole, but its just been dragged out for so long at the expense of credibility to both MJF and the world title. All my grips aside, theyve done the following that I have to commend them for, theyve gotten a double clothesline over as a finish, a jumping kangaroo kick over, and have allowed Max to show more development as a character and add to the MJF lore. But in adding to the lore that is MJFs character, theyve also sacrificed their top heel for the time being, which isnt okay. This really should end soon, but I know it wont. So I may as well buckle in and prepare to be patient. UPDATE: Well, I guess in hindsight Adam turning heel was the more likely possibility, but I stand by most of my original comment. BTYBB did nothing for MJF other than cool him off so badly that AEW spent the last 5 months of his title reign just spinning their wheels with no top heel in the company until the big turn came. Just a colossal waste of time for everyone and a detriment to MJFs character."

[3.0] "When the good positive thing people can say about you is that your theme song is good then you don't have much to offer in the ring. The Saitos are probably the worst and most over-pushed tag team in Japan right now. Now I understand that not every big man tag team can be the Steiners, Road Warriors, Doom, Wild II, Miracle Violence Connection, Strong BJ, Twin Towers, Violent Giants, Hansen & Brody, etc. They're mediocre muscle brother team who do big moves. And I would be ok with that if they weren't shoved down my throat by the companies I like so much. They have destroyed the G-INFINITY tag division by going over every team GLEAT can come up with, even BGI (GLEAT'S MAIN HEEL FACTION) multiple times. Imagine if Indus Sher or something other lower card tag team beat The Bloodline or Judgement Day on a consistent basis. Their best match was basically cheating by having AJPW's #1 and #2 guys fight them in their hometown. And now one of them is getting a title shot against one of the best wrestlers/characters right now in Nakajima? And yeah it's probably gonna be a filler defense, but you couldn't give that to Anzai or Honda or even Atsuki Aoyagi, Hikaru Sato, Rising HAYATO? To end, The Saitos are like a 90-91 or 95-96 WCW tag team that WCW kept pushing really hard when it's very clear they're not gonna be the next Steiners or Road Warriors."

There's nothing here but a comedy act with head licking, I don't hate these guys, and as a 43 year old fan, I can't say I have never done the bushwhacker walk. So, in 2024 they got A redo that NOBODY asked for, and.. yeah its been bad still. Some people enjoy this, and they can thats fine. I just.. I don't get it. Maybe its cause I wasn't watching during the first awesome truth run, so I have no nostalgia for it like some do, but yeah awesome truth suck. At this point in their careers they need to fully own being power-abusing heels and stop begging for "their flowers." The waffling between trying to be bad guys and out of kayfabe asking for more respect does nothing for them. I could probably get behind at least boo'ing them if they committed to being hated, because they are serviceable in the ring. It's just too obvious that they still insist upon being seen as "cool heels, " so it ruins whatever aura they are trying to impress upon the audience. It's always good to see Asuka wrestling and being included in stories, it allowed Alexa to try out a new character, and it created some great story opportunities for a Bianca whose reign lasted and sometimes lacked intensity. Unfortunately, Alexa failed to find and develop a character as charismatic as her previous one, their five-day reign as tag team champions was pointless and unnecessary, only impoverishing Damage Control's debut, and the little rivalry between Alexa and Bianca lacked surprise and strength."

When this atomic bomb of wrestlecrap dropped I was shell shocked, utterly stunned. Like a fever dream. The match kept going. This was somehow real. I watched a few more times in frozen terror, disturbed to the point of rigidness. No hyperbole. I was trying to sincerely figure out... Why? What? WHY? The second time I saw them was The Skyscrapers BRUTALLY burying them. They even ripped off the masks and Norman played around with one of them I think. That was the first time I knew I was seeing a MEGA BURIAL and the TOTAL DEATH of a gimmick. It's all so bizarre even all of these decades later. There is no sense to be made of this, it's maddeningly purposeless. I was randomly given the number "3.57" because I have no earthly clue How I would even rate this using logic. But imagine this band is incredibly tight, so skilled but only play the worst songs from that band they are covering's back catalogue. And they play it as loud as possible while yelling at the crowd angrily between sets. That's The Young Bucks. A tag team of nerdy youth pastors that saw The Rockers and said "hey, let's BOTH be a foot shorter version of Shawn Michaels! " while in reality, they are actually just two Marty Jannettys. They are tiny, egotistical geeks who constantly pick fights outside of wrestling that they always lose. But, they are the "Vader" of the late 10's / early 20's in that they precipitated the wildest changes in wrestling in a generation. Their selling and in-ring antics are more suitable for comedy wrestling, though. I'd rate them lower, and they are bigots, but I really can't go too low considering that they haven't murdered or SA-ed anyone (that we know of). They also aren't the worst influence in their dying pro wrestling org - that's reserved for Jericho."

[5.0] "I think I get why these guys are as popular as they are, at least to some extent, but there's very little about them that appeals to me. The Young Bucks are a tag team that epitomizes the popular in-ring style of the 2010s indie scene - fast paced, stunt-centric matches laden with complex spots and flashy sequences. Basically every fundamental convention of wrestling is kind of absent in most Young Bucks matches, you're not going to see much heat, or anything really resembling a babyface/heel dynamic, and you'll probably see some overt cooperation between opponents. It probably won't feel like there's much animosity between the contestants, or like there's even really a competition happening in the ring. In most cases, the best you can hope to see from this team is a visually engaging exhibition of moves and stunts, and the ability of the audience to suspend their disbelief or engage emotionally with the match is sacrificed for the sake of achieving same. Luckily, that's enough for your average indie show attendee from the 2010s, but I don't think the Young Bucks function well as a fixture of a weekly televised wrestling product. There are a lot of fundamental aspects of wrestling and its presentation that they struggle with. In the right context and with the right opponent, they're definitely capable of a more functional wrestling match, but they've never been able to convince me that they know how to present themselves or how to get themselves over with anybody for whom they haven't already."

Logic and reasoning do not usually apply to wrestling, thus The Shadows were born. Jose Luis Rivera was moonlighting as The Red Demon but was now placed as Rex's second. The purpose: enhancement talent, the talent to enhance: The Young Stallions. The Shadows wrestled other opponents of course, but most of their matches were against the recently paired Powers & Roma. Jose Luis as #2 was more subdued here than his role as The Red Demon, same goes for his upcoming role as Conquistador #1. #1/Rex seemed to have his working shoes on for this gimmick, as he was pushing his usually slothful body to speeds I don't think I've seen him move in before (kudos). There was some mild chemistry and I think they could have milked those hoods a lil longer, but for whatever reason Rex & The F parted ways and Jose moved on to form... The Conquistadors! They work really well together in the ring and compliment each other well during promos. I highly doubt Starks and Bill will continue tagging once they lose the belts as AEW clearly have more stock in Starks as a singles guy but I'd really like them to stay a regular thing in the future."

Dusty Cup winners and probably not future world champs, but still best tag team down in NXT right now honestly. One note for devs though, they should be called the wolf dogs on here though, not Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker still."

[7.0] "The Prophecy were the first ROH tag team champions ever. Christopher Daniels and Donovan Morgan won the ROH tag team title tournament defeating the SAT, Idaka & Togo and Danielson & Modest. The best match was the one against the japanese team. On this tournament they showed that they were a good heel team, with chemistry between them and with a bright future. The only problem that happened is that Morgan's appearences were rare, due to his Japan commitements, which made him lose a lot of shows. I mean, he wasn't there even when Daniels and Xavier lost the titles to AJ Styles and the Amazing Red. Their next match was a six man tag alongside Samoa Joe against Low Ki, Homicide and Doug Williams. The purpose of that one was to built Samoa Joe as a beast, and they totally accomplished it. Then The Prophecy faced the SAT on a bad two out of three falls, in which the Maximos botch a lot of things. After that, there wasn't another Morgan tag team match until Night of the Grudges, where they defeated The Group on a Losing Faction Must Disband Six Man Tag Team alongside Dan Maff. Morgan here didn't look impressive and never came back to ROH. It's a shame that we couldn't see more of them, because they showed that they were a capable tag team with chemistry between them and his finisher was cool. They will be remembered as the inaugural ROH tag team champions."

He suited their personality perfectly as the manager of one of the most legendary and dominant tag teams in history. Being around Drake Maverick hurt their credibility a little, Rollins thing was promising too but cut short due to unlucky reasons. Both great athletes respectively and bring a great dominance that puts them over and their opponents whether they're underdogs or an established babyface team. I'm now looking closely to their work in Final Testament and if they get over with the fans eventually. I think that stable can be something of an important thing on weekly basis thus giving a credibility to Authors of Pain one more time with Ellering on their side again."

I'd only watch them if the nwo was on for example (I HATED the nwo, greatest go away heat ever imagined, I still go away heat hate it & pardon the digression, it has a purpose). When Jim Ross would say they were the greatest or best or blah blah blah I would laugh like Edna Krabappel then change the channel. About 5 or 7 years ago I saw them again and enjoyed it. One is the mouth, who is also the bump taking face in peril. The other is the Dumb Blonde Beefcake who got the hot tag and GETS THINGS DONE. I like it. I had to discredit it and totally bypass it in youth, to appreciate it in my deeper age. If I live long enough to watch them all over again I am sure to have recommended watches or might even shift my tune a bit. But as it stands - they won me over, it just took almost decades. Also, my word! Have you ever seen such crowd control? Remarkable. 7.25"

[7.0] "FTR are skilled in-workers of the "allrounder" style. However, they are poor on the mic, and their gimmick is nostalgia for an era of wrestling that they are too young to remember. They are naturally an upper-midcard heel tag team: the should hold a championship from time to time, but they don't need to hold 4 championships at once. In 2022, they were overly protected in AEW, not losing a match to the Acclaimed while the Acclaimed were AEW champions, despite a match being teased. Maybe that was bad booking: the titles of the separate brands shouldn't merge, in the same way that the World champion shouldn't challenge secondary champions. This cheapened the tag team titles, as the implied narrative was basically that FTR was the deserving tag team, but the Acclaimed were selling edgy t-shirts and overpriced foam fingers."

That was their strong suit, as Indi isn't particularly great in the ring, though they had some good matches. (Io and Zoey at GAB and the street fight with Moon and Blackheart comes to mind). Their character work is what made them so good in NXT, horny Indi and annoyed mom Candice was peak... which makes their 2023-now main roster run more baffling. They just have a bunch of 2-3 minutes matches with no character until the past few weeks. Things seem to be turning around with the Candice heel turn, which is why I'm rating a 7 instead of a 6, but the proceeding 7 months of being no character jobbers lowered my opinion on them."

Baron's been just wandering around aimless for years with some flickers of potential from time to time, and this pairing has brought out the greatest attributes of the character and performer. Bron's character has come a long way since his face run, and he was already main roster ready before this team even came together, but this has added a new comedic layer to the character that really rounds him out. Their segments are funny and they play off each other well in dialogue and in matches, and they manage to come off corny in a likeable way while still being dominant heels. While Bron seems to be set for a huge singles run on the main roster soon, I hope these two still remain allies who have each other's back."

The Lucha Brothers became a sensation in the second half of the tenth after they became known to the mass audience from their appearances in Lucha Underground. Unfortunately, now they're just two luchadores showing spots. It worked in the beginning, but unfortunately they are not evolving in any way. They are capable of putting on a quality match, although they're often monotonous lately, but as characters they stand still and trying to flirt with AEW fans with teasers of Pentagon Dark's return has gotten nowhere. Nevertheless, they have become quite popular, and still make appearances around the world."

Fortunately, Beefcake came off as just a meathead there to pound on ya, with little to no frills. It was refreshing, they were a GREAT heel tag team for the era. Greg was as good as ever here and was able to groom Brutus into something very watchable. This was Brutus Beefcake's pinnacle and their whole run together is enjoyable, natural chemistry that only improved. 7.75 rounded up, could/should have gotten a longer run with no Dino Bravo fiasco. These two are arguably one of the hottest tag teams on the indies right now, and it's entirely because of their connection with the crowd and refusal to let others bring them down. [8.0] "Their work in Crockett is damn impressive, yes they were an "answer" to the Road Warriors but at the time please remember, The Barbarian was in JCP long before Animal and The Warlord didn't quite look like Hawk just yet. The enhancement matches are jaw dropping; the displays of power, teamwork and athleticism are profound for the time and always deliver. The bench press event/angle with The Legion of Doom was a hit, the matches following were tooth n nail & went ALL out. Then the trip to New York (WWF). Now a full fledged Road Warrior rip off, the pair went onto to feud with Demolition but the chemistry just wasn't there. The Barbarian did ok but The Warlord seemed out of place on top of limited. Even youngsters could see they didn't have "it" when there and the bell to bell stuff sometimes suffered. Those are harsh words but there are decent matches to be found there, against The Rockers especially. I have an odd confession, The Super Assassins worked for me. Brunzell was always an enjoyable babyface and his energetic style gave Brian Blair the spark he needed to finally start excelling instead of being just another body (albeit one with a strong amateur based mat game). The amateur based stylings of Blair meshed well with Brunzell's abundance of fiery babyface offense. Using quick tags, they made the most they could out of limb work and technical wrestling. Their matches were also quite fast paced for the era/territory. Really great matches with The Hart Foundation & Demolitions and able to bring the best out of The Bolsheviks.
