[6.0] "TNA has some ups and downs, but mostly downs because a lot of questionable booking has done in the wrestling promotion over the past decade. TNA in 2002-2009 was a blast, TNA brought the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Eric Young, etc. The way they used the legends in that era is great and very helpful to put over the next breed of talents then. One of the most exciting things TNA has done is the X-Division, in which broke barriers on bringing the exciting element of indy wrestling to television. Every X-Division match is amazing and somewhat refreshing to the eyes of pro-wrestling fans. Upon the era of Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan in 2010, it somehow turned into WCW 2000. The bookings are very dirty, legends putting themselves over, totally a disaster. North American wrestling has suffered its dark days in early 2010's and neither TNA nor WWE was bearable to watch. This is the reason why fans stopped watching pro-wrestling until AEW came to rise in 2019, bringing lapsed fans back. TNA had some worst moments, and these moments are the only things that TNA is memorable of. Like the drugged Jeff Hardy incident in Victory Road 2011, Sharmell vs Jenna Morasca, and the worst part is when TNA trying to compete the WWE on Monday nights, in which is embarrassing. Good to see TNA has somehow improved in terms of wrestling quality in late 2010's. Nowadays, TNA is lowkey decent, unfortunately getting overshadowed by two wrestling giants in North America."

[10.0] "If you look at John Cena purely from a sports entertainment perspective, then there is no doubt he is on the mount rushmore of greatest wrestlers in WWE history. He has it all, from having a fantastic look, incredible mic skills and being good enough in-ring to carry matches with competitors who are not his equal to excelling with wrestlers on his level and even above in terms of in-ring ability. His work towards the end of his full time tenure became drastically better, showing that he was able to move with the times and not be this stuck in the mud has-been wrestler past his prime. In-terms of WWE, he is truly one of their greatest wrestlers and has done A LOT to help the company move forward and be in a better place post Rock/Austin era."

I am let down by it though, funny considering the 10 I give it, but I think I overhyped it. I enjoyed their match last year slightly more in terms of workrate and pacing. Ideally, I was hoping for a similarlly paced match from last year, THEN the gaga, THEN EVEN MORE WRESTLING AND NEAR FALLS from Cody and Roman, and THEN the finish. Maybe my idea isn't right, but I honestly think this was way too short. Totally flew by for me (honestly as did last years). Cody and Roman have some of the most elite chemistry of all time, if this is their last match I'd be super dissapointed. Still a powerful and emotional epic, a perfect conclusion to the first 40 years of WrestleMania. ****3/4"

[9.0] "Upon seeing few of Rey Fenix matches, both as singles and as a tag team, safe to say that he is one of the most spectacular highflyers amongst most luchadores. Although, luchadores are well known for excessive use of flashy spots, Fenix can make most of his moves very important to the matches he performed. His team-up with Penta El Zero Miedo, also known as the Lucha Brothers, are the most exciting and one of the best luchadores tag team in all of pro-wrestling. Seeing them fought the Young Bucks showed how much of an amazing chemistry these two teams got. Fenix is obviously the stand-out of the two and brought amazing highlights on most of their matches. Fenix reminded me of a young Rey Mysterio due to his abilities and I believe that Fenix fits to be the next Rey Mysterio, which means he could be the next top successful worldwide luchador if booked right. The only guys that I can think of that somehow can match Fenix's highflying abilities is El Hijo del Vikingo, which is another talented young luchador. Also, I love his edgy style and calling his opponents, "ZERO MIEDO" which means "No Fear" in Spanish. His personality showed that he is not just some generic luchador that we most commonly saw on lucha libre wrestling. Truly an excellent performer and always a blast when I see him on his matches."

Hikaru Shida is very much the female ace of the company and rightfully so, but VENY and Mei Suruga are the standout performers here. Mick Foley takes some horrific bumps to make Kane look like a monster, but I thought they did a good job with Kane here as well where he gets a drop toe hold to the steps and recovers from it quickly and Foley hits him with the chair to the head and he just rolls back into the ring and fights normal. I don't know what was worse, the one where Kane sends Mankind flying through the announce table or the slam in to the concrete. Both looked painful as hell. Great storytelling with this match overall. Very strong debut for Kane."

[8.0] "Finally the Attitude Era PPV that I absolutely loved. The opener was fantastic with Dudleys proving me wrong about their inability to have a proper Tag Team Match, Jericho vs Benoit was my favourite Ladder Match up to date with both guys making all of the incredible spots and bumps look realistic, Ivory vs Chyna was a really convincing injury angle and Kurt vs HHH had a little too much of the McMahon drama, but it was still great with Angle having his best singles bout yet. And then the Royal Rumble Match didn't have the star power of the 1992 one, but the main event scene was strong and the bodies in the ring were just there to feed the proper stars. The fans were loud, all of the top guys looked strong and Stone Cold won the whole thing after a fantastic showdown with Kane. A really good show where everything just clicked."

Every move looked perfect, every sault, and it had all the things I like the most about CMLL. The atmosphere was astonishing, people on Arena Mexico were just crazy to see them. Mistico eliminated Atlantis with La Mistica for a giant pop, and at the end Mascara Dorada made Mistico tap-out with the same La Mistica for an even bigger pop, in a moment that will live forever amongst lucha libre fans. He is clearly the future Ace of the company and he is already been built to take this place in such a young age, it is incredible. I would have made the Mistico vs Mascarite one-on-one a little bit longer tho, this is the only flaw I saw on the match. It was just electric."

Over half of the participants are just bodies to fill the ring before the proper main eventer can eliminate them and I didn't mind it, because the main event scene was really strong back then. Taker, Kane, Rock, Austin, Rikishi - everybody just feeds them. There was a great involvement from Carey, Kane's booking in this bout was probably the best of his career and the final showdown between him and Austin was just phenomenal. This proves that you don't need the best roster to have a very good Royal Rumble if you can focus your attention on the proper main eventers."

A guy hired presumably only because of his look, 4x4 made the Ultimate Warrior look like the most versatile wrestler ever, having like four moves in total that I have seen; punching, a bear hug, a body slam and I think he did a big splash onto a guy's back once. I guess he has an okay look, but it's kinda undercut by the fact that he's not especially tall by wrestling standards. I suppose he could provide as a bodyguard (which was his main role in WCW anyways), but not much else."

[8.0] "This was very interesting. It might appear as a normal, short and fast paced sprint but had some cool details and the action was creative. Arez is a high flyer and well versed in the Llave ( Mexican technical or submission wrestling ) but his approach is very unique as he tries to outsmart his opponents with baits and unpredictability when it comes to timing his moves. A good example of the later is when he sent Matt outside the ring and went for the suicide dive but instead of doing it conventionally like running into the ropes to gain momentum, he takes a pause and immediately goes for the dive. He doesn't want his opponent to scout his next move. Also the way he tried to confuse Matt by first picking him up and then rolling him over only to hit a sudden springboard moonsault. He also made sure he goes down quickly and doesn't give himself airtime like most wrestlers would want to go as high in the air for but Arez fell pretty quickly on Matt after flip for the moonsault. He wanted to minimize the chance of his opponent moving away. Another thing I loved was when he did his signature flip later in the match and slowly lifted himself up and for a second it felt like Matt would grab him again but Arez surprises him with a Pele kick. I also liked when he did his striking combo into a powerbomb for the second time and Matt tries to escape form the powerbomb again but Arez positions him and hits a cool northern light suplex. This is just some praise for Arez. I liked Matt showing some unpredictability in his offense to counter and keep Arez in control. His short arm work was good and a cool finishing submission victory. At first it felt like he was going for Chaos Theory ( Rolling german suplex) but soon as he lifted Arez for the suplex, he transition into an arm bar. 7.50"

Miu Watanabe is still young but has already established herself as being the promotion's future ace, especially with her recent and thoroughly-deserved first Princess of Princess Championship victory. TJPW has sometimes been criticised for the stagnancy of its title scene, with the top belt usually being traded back-and-forth between company pillars Miyu Yamashita, Yuka Sakazaki and Shoko Nakajima - All of whom are excellent wrestlers but have certainly made it difficult for the company to create real contenders to challenge them. Fortunately, Miu Watanabe's talent is undeniable and she's managed to break through. Miu is the complete package in terms of a TJPW wrestler: She has such a bubbly and charming personality (seriously, try to find pictures of her where she isn't smiling) with the wrestling ability to boot. Miu's incredibly strong for her size and her moveset fittingly makes good use of this, with her giant swing being one of the best in the business. Miu's also the de facto leader of TJPW's Up-Up Girls idol unit. I don't usually care for idol culture but Miu's energy in UUG's performances before every show is infectious. [5.0] "I heard this touted as a Show of the Year contender, so I gave it a go, and concluded it's in fact not that, at least if you're not someone who loves the lucha style and is willing to accept the mixing in of the AEW style alongside it. For me, it was instead just a very mediocre show with a handful of decent matches and only the main-event being something somewhat worth going out of your way for. That's mostly because neither current CMLL or AEW does a great amount for me, and I felt neither company gave the best representation of themselves relative to what I personally prefer from the both of them. Magnus & Rugido vs Brillante & Neon was a fine opener. It was clearly cooperative when it came to their more flashy stuff, and pretty dull when it came to their more basic interactions, but at least they had some pretty impressive athletic displays and a handful of really cool spots. **1/2. Esfinge vs Zandokan was building up to be pretty fun but got fumbled at the very end and felt rushed. They had good action almost in whole way, with Zandokan in control for the 1st half and impressing with his power moves on top of his actually rather sparse aerial attacks. Unfortunately, Zandokan looked quite cooperative as Esfinge staged a comeback, but at least Esfinge's own offence looked good in isolation. They picked back up the drama with some convincing near fall trades, but then Esfinge got the win off of an underwhelming big counter and his match-winning pin feeling quite anticlimactic. ***. Cavernario vs Averno was a nice change of pace, since it was nowhere near as generically 'flashy' as the previous matches or what you imagine when you think of a modern lucha match. Instead we had two somewhat charismatic guys -- Cavernario the endearingly goofy babyface, Averno the grimy heel -- going through straightforward, well-executed power moves and strikes, with it then feeling significant whenever they indeed brought out their flashier and more agile traditional lucha spots. It also helped that they never went a million miles an hour, so their spots had time to sink in and thus another reason to feel significant. They still never did anything super impressive, but it was a very solid performance. ***. The 4-way mask-vs-mask match was weak. The booking made 0 sense, since there's literally no justification for the high risk of eliminating the first 2 guys so that only with the final 2 does the match finally become mask-vs-mask. Literally high risk and relatively low reward, given none of these guys are stars for the 'scalp' of de-masking them to mean anything. Even by modern lucha standards it was pretty over-choreographed with their high spots, and clear sloppiness came out the longer the match went on. A handful of spots looked okay, but most of the fundamentals here looked pretty weak. **1/4. The 6-woman tag was pretty mediocre. Vaquer, Tessa, and Zeuxis were the ones that impressed me, since they all looked quite energetic, intense, and slick with their work, whereas Catalina and Lluvia weren't that good, and Willow was typically underwhelming with her weak strikes and unconvincing 'monster' offence. A lot of the big attacks here didn't look that good, even those that came from the better-skilled wrestlers, and the same applied with the multi-woman spots. The 3 aforementioned good talents were enough to keep this together, but this was otherwise kinda sloppy and just plain underwhelming. **1/2. Atlantis & Soberano vs Dorada & Rocky was decent. I enjoyed the "can they coexist" story coming out with the mixing of teams made up of 1 heel and 1 face each, which made for some entertaining moments of alliances, tension, and betrayals. Aside from that, however, this was a pretty typically 50/50 match with bomb trades and lucha spots, which were athletically very impressive but didn't have much 'meat' to them because of how mindlessly they came and went. If they had that interesting story of the odd couple pairing and fit that to a more compelling structure, then this could've been pretty good. Either that or if all 4 guys really went further with making their mindless trades and high spots more memorable. ***. The CMLL-vs-BCC 8-man tag was quite good and clearly MOTN. It was nothing crazy like the people desperate for a CMLL/AEW cross-over touted, but it was mindless fun all the same. Everyone got to cycle in and show off their stuff, and while most impressed to varying degrees like Danielson, Mistico, Volador, Claudio, and Sydal, others like Panther and Guerrero didn't feel convincing given the caliber of their opponents and their own advances ages, and Moxley was just doing weird Moxley-style things that likewise didn't fit. The booking with Sydal of all people as BCC's captain made no sense, as did the inclusion of elimination rules only to barely use them and only to a very tiny extent at the very end, but then this match was never about the story, it was just about seeing a mixture of styles for the sake of action, and it mostly succeeded in that regard. It still sucks that matches like this, with so much pure athletic talent, can't be utilised for more compelling stories. ***1/4"

TJPW tends to stay away from face/heel dynamics but Pom's villainous streak manifests itself in such silly ways that you can't help but love her. In a fashion typical of many TJPW wrestlers, Pom has solid in-ring fundamentals but probably isn't going to be setting the world on fire with sheer technical ability any time soon. She more than makes up for it with personality though: No one can convey pain and distress like Pom can. Her feud and subsequent partnership with Max the Impaler was one of the most entertaining storylines in recent TJPW history, with Pom usually being forcefully dragged to the ring by her fellow roster members for her matches with the non-binary nightmare. Definitely sits in the same mold as Hyper Misao in terms of wrestlers who aren't likely to trouble TJPW's title scene but you still love to have them around."

[6.0] "Neither CMLL's matches or BCC's matches do much for me these days, so this was never going to be anything that appealed to me very strongly, but it was still quite good. What it had going for it was action, since this was obviously one of those 'exhibition' work-rate matches where all the guys involved got plenty of time to show off their stuff one after the other. One of the few things I outright rolled my eyes at here was Panther (and to a lesser extent also Guerrero) getting those moments of not just clearly keeping up with or even momentarily getting the better of his opponents -- given he's in his 60s AND clearly looks it too -- but also the moments of him withstanding, surviving, or even taking out the BCC on his own. I get this is a lucha legend and that the crowd popped for it, but I do prefer some logic in my wrestling and not just cheap pops and unbelievable fairytale moments for the sake of it, and those moments were hard to swallow. Aside from that, this was a typically fun, mindless lucha match that did well mixing with the equally mindless AEW tag style. Danielson did well his his aggressive and intense striking, though at times he was annoyingly lost in the fray as BCC as a whole did their gang-ups and run-ins. Claudio looked really motivated here, going back to some of his lucha-style roots as he played an exciting freight-train powerhouse just running through dude while also acting as a really strong base for his high-flying opponents. Sydal, the replacement for the unavailable Yuta, was good as the token high-flyer for the BCC team. He obviously didn't at all have the character to fit in with them, but seeing him direct his high-flying spots in a more heelish light and then mix up with his equivalents on the CMLL team was pretty fun. A good portion of Moxley's performance was the other 'thing' after Panther's (and to a lesser extent Guerroro's) strong booking that I couldn't take seriously, since he was in that mode where he was selling/emoting in a really unhinged way, walking around quite unnaturally, and delivering a lot of pretty messy or soft-looking attacks, which undercut the other 50% of his performance where he was typically trying to act like a badass bruiser. I'd prefer if he'd cut the theatrics while 'playing tough guy' and instead just tried to play a cold, hardened street brawler who straight up clobbered guys, rather than only lightly going after them whenever he's meant to be punishing them. Mistico is basically just a signature-moves guy, hitting all the same spots in basically the exact same ways from match to match, failing to impress in any other way... but damn is he still impressive with those spots all the same, since he always gets great speed and looks incredibly crisp whenever he flys or twirls in the air, so I couldn't complain too much with him. Volador was someone who was sadly restrained for ages until his brief run-in where he took BCC out with all his explosive and flashy spots, reminding me of exactly why he's probably my favourite CMLL wrestler from the last few years. It would've been great to see more of him, since even with this being a "everyone gets time" match, it didn't feel like he got as much as the others here, despite arguably being the most impressive pure "work-rate" guy in the ring. It definitely felt like a waste having these apparent elimination rules only for there to be a single elimination before the match-deciding elimination as captain Sydal was eliminated, and it didn't help that those eliminations happened so quickly after each other. Sydal being the BCC team's captain was a bad enough telegraphing job, but it also just didn't make sense that BCC dominated many portions of this match for so long but only got a single elimination right before the end. I mean, why do these 'elimination' and 'captain' rules if you're not going to use them to make the match feel more significant by having more eliminations and thus adding more drama as the numbers whittle down? There's also the obviously questionable logic in why the BCC team would handicap themselves by elected Sydal, the kayfabe weakest member, as their captain. Anyways, my issues with the booking, Panther/Guerroro, and Moxley aside, this was dumb fun. ***1/4"

[7.0] "This was the most I've been impressed with Perry in quite a long time. He never worked for me as the athletic but incredibly bland babyface, and even his newer heel work didn't do much more for me, but him leaning into the airing of the All In incident here in Chicago with all his props and taunts was really fun. The crowd was surprisingly very split, with some mocking Perry for the All In footage but others rallying around him as an "FU" to who the viewed as the real villain in the matter. Perry's wrestling itself is still nothing too noteworthy, just at the level of 'good indie worker', but the way he supplemented in with his despicable "punch me in the face" character work and dastardly cheap shots made all his offence feel a lot more meaningful. Shota, meanwhile, felt like he was from another world. His constant fan-appeals felt pretty forced, since it's clear that he's too squeaky clean of a babyface for the western fans to truly align with, even if they like him just because of his association with Moxley, and often his constant "cheer for me! " appeals felt overkill. Like, at least half the crowd was already *strongly* on your side by default of Perry being your opponent, Shota, but your generically desperate pleas for support became off-putting. I think the issue was that it often just felt like Shota was more interested in entertaining the fans and getting their support rather than just going after Perry, who screwed him over in the NJ Cup. Regardless, Shota is still a good young talent, and he made up for those issues with his always energetic and athletic offence, and he still has a number of distinctly creative moves that allow him to stand out, which I really appreciate. They had good trades the whole way, though as they moved into their rapid big-move trades and occasional no-selling they started to become a bit overkill and generic. I enjoyed how they ultimately told a clear story of Perry's obsession with all his Punk-references and gloating towards the Chicago crowd causing him to waste many opportune moments and thus leave himself open for Shota to take him out. Perry also did a really good job with some impressive bumps to put Shota over strong during the finishing stretch. This was a match in a special situation, given the recent airing of the All In footage, this show taking place in Chicago, and this being Perry's first match since the footage airing, so I doubt Perry can ever recreate anywhere near this sort of atmosphere again, but that just meant we were lucky in getting this when we did. ***1/4"

After 4 minutes of wrestling, the babyface taps out after being in a hold for 3 seconds. Are you kidding me? How does that make sense? The babyface than totally no sells his legs for the rest of the match. There were also some blatant interference from the heel's mascot, in front of the referee, and the referee does nothing. Am I missing something here? The 6 points I'm giving are for the athleticism and for the fact that they at least kept the spots to a minimum."

[] "Finally, Solo Sikoa becomes interesting. It has taken over a year for me to pay proper attention to him on the main roster now, but I'm glad we're now at a point where he speaks and acts of his own accord instead of being a grunty enforcer for Roman Reigns. Paul Heyman's always great but I'm particularly interested in seeing him out of his depth and rapidly losing control over what's left of the Bloodline in Roman's absence. Kevin Owens bleeding like a stuck pig, and Tama Tonga's car crashed into his? This was very 90s RAW, in a very good way. Hearing "we want Roman" so soon after his defeat tells me that Roman's return as a babyface will finally get him the good guy run he was supposed to have. The Women's Title match was good. Bayley's always got my attention and Naomi impresses with her athletics, but having a no contest finish with Tiffany Stratton was a little... "eh". I like all three of them, don't get me wrong - I just dislike interference finishes for title matches. I suppose you can't have Naomi look bad or Bayley lose two weeks in, so this is the best outcome. Santos Escobar v Carlito was a bit dull. Carlito hasn't impressed me in-ring since his return at Backlash, but Escobar continues to entertain with his combination of high-flying and sneaky offence. AJ Styles and LA Knight The Tag Fatal Four-Way went on for a very long time, which really surprised me given it was a television match. The Street Profits put in a great show, as did Legado del Fantasma. The Authors of Pain looked dominant and very strong even despite spending a big chunk of the match being wailed on by three other teams. I still can't really get behind them yet but we'll see. Pete Dunne is great, I've always liked him; but Tyler Bate... something about him (and it's probably entirely me) just puts me off. I don't know if it's the look, the "big strong boy" thing; no, I know what it is. In a sport that relies on choreography under the guise of looking spontaneous, Bate's spots in this match looked REALLY noticeable in terms of needing to be set up and helped into positions. It didn't look particularly fluid to me. Every wrestler has their "spot". Rey Mysterio always manages to get a 619 in somehow, Undertaker's Tombstone, Rollins' Stomp etc - but these all look pretty natural during the course of it. Maybe it's because it was an eight man match and I'm being too harsh. We'll see. Looking forward to the Draft."

The main event definitely underwhelmed, and some of the undercard bouts were bizarre (that entrance for Oz has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen from a major promotion. What on Earth were they thinking with that one? ), although personally I thought they were at least strange enough as to be endearing (it helped that they were all pretty short). Sting/Luger-Steiners, Anderson-Eaton, and Windham-Pillman (and to a lesser extent the Doom cage match) were all really entertaining, though, and definitely made the show worthwhile. At the very least I think the show succeeded at being interesting, which is often the most important thing to me, and there was certainly enough that was good here to earn a pretty positive rating."

Some of the spots didn't seem to work out well at all - having seen Flair pull it off seamlessly so many times, that double bridge-up spot just looked a bit sad (the announcers tried to cover it by saying Fujinami was hurt, but that didn't seem to be the case to me). On top of this, the crowd did not sound very invested at all, and there was a pretty awkward dynamic with the home promotion champion being the heel. I really enjoyed the physicality of the bout, and there were individual moments that worked very well, but they were quite able to bring it all together, and unfortunately the match just ended up feeling a bit strange and 'off' to me."

It gives the match a special aura, like you're seeing the Avengers take on the Justice League. Everybody is on top of their game, and the offence all liked explosive and high impact. Sting in particular has a great showing. The finish is well executed (the camerawork here is great) and definitely works for the story, but it is still admittedly a bit of a disappointing conclusion. This, in addition to some sloppy work here and there (what was going on with that Side Russian Leg Sweep attempt...? ) that did hold the match back from earning a higher rating for me. I was still very close to going with a 9.0 because I really enjoyed the action, but I just wish this ended on a more satisfying note, or at least had a few extra minutes before they went home. The other problem is that having no context at the time I thought RVD was the face and Storm the heel, when it turns out it was the opposite...
