[6.0] "Somewhat disappointing over the last half year or so, hoping now that they're building to Revolution that things start to spice up a bit. Tony said that 2024 AEW would be like 2021 AEW, and I can only hope that he delivers on that, because the company (to me) is nowhere near the heights of that era anymore"

[9.0] "Absolutely great z-tier promotion and idea from the superstar genius mind that is Survival Tobita and how much he can push the boundaries of what actually constitutes wrestling or not. Unemployment Pro is all about dudes wrestling in a tiny room with no ring, no official ref, no ropes, no mat, nothing but a dirty ass floor and the few dozen who come to watch having to essentially just lean on the wall and hope they don't randomly get caught up in the matches either in there or when they spill out into the streets lol. Weird stuff and even weirder matches but if you can brave the jump into Tobita's bizarre world then you are rewarded greatly with a bunch of really solid hardcore work alongside seeing GOAT-tier talent like Keita Yano or that one dude who really likes dressing up as Leatherface every now and then. Great watch if you're all about the goofy ahh promotions that don't care about being comfy viewing, based all in all."

[7.0] "After 5 years of existence as a mainstream American company, we can all say without a shroud of a doubt that AEW rejuvenated that exciting feeling you get around wrestling. And it has been amazing to see this company making its baby steps to become what it is today. But as of the day I'm writing this review and for the past 2 years no less, it has (justifiably) come under scrutiny when it comes to booking and behind-the-scenes drama. But before that, I'd have to give it the amount of credit it deserves. I'm not too deep in wrestling, but I love how I've been using AEW as a gateway to start getting into other wrestling companies outside of North America (NJPW, NOAH, AAA, DDT...), it gives AEW this unpredictable nature that makes the announcement of a Yuji Nagata v. Bryan Danielson more exciting than any PPV build. Speaking of PPV, even with the amount of duds (World's End 2023, half of All Out 2022, All Out 2020) AEW has on its PPV counter, their pacing flows a lot better than their contemporaries, and you're always guaranteed to have two quality matches at the very least. Thirdly, I love the edgy nature, the TV-14 rating for their TV programs allows the talent to explore more mature themes (for example: Christian Cage's "Go f*ck yourself" promo) or sillier jokes (Kenny Omega's Bangkok joke or Big Bill putting Moxley's blood as lipstick) which makes the builds infinitely more interesting and colorful than the restrictive nature of any PG wrestling program. AEW easily has the best tag team division in the world, with The Young Bucks, Lucha Bros and FTR trying each year to dethrone each other for the spot of being the best tag team. With the exception of 2022 and 2023, the sports-based presentation has been wonderful, even if the choice of making rankings don't make all that much sense when there are tournaments and battle royals for a number one contendership, it's easily made up with the quality of the TV matches, which is something that I can say more for the men's division rather than the women's division. And here's where my words will turn sour, the AEW women's division sucks. Not just in terms of booking, but also in terms of in-ring quality. The level of importance given to this division rivals the worst popularity contest you could imagine. As of today, it's a bloody travesty that the division's champion (Toni Storm) has 1000 times more care given to her fantastic character work rather than her in-ring work. I hope AEW can take some pages from the STARDOM notebook. Another complaint with this company can be boiled down to their production, and I don't know how, but these issues become incredibly apparent during the Anarchy in the Arena/Stadium Stampede matches. All these matches have too many instances where the camera cuts sooner or later than a given spot. And my final complaint goes to Tony Khan's booking after he acquired Ring of Honor. Plain simple, he needs to delegate ROH to someone else and continue the sports-based booking of AEW. If nothing, the Continental Classic has been among their best storytelling devices and it should be used as a blueprint for most of the booking. That it, I love AEW, and I hope it keeps succeeding at being the better alternative in mainstream North American wrestling."

[] "I understand the appeal of wanting wrestling legends on your card to get as many eyes on your company as possible, but holy cow. When your whole promotion is based on old wrestlers from a decade or two ago, I don't know how you expect them to still perform like they're in their prime. I'm not gonna blame them for the Jake incident, but they didn't do anything to stop him from going out there and making a fool of himself. I don't know how they expected this to be anything more than an absolute trainwreck."

[2.0] "I think the quality of the product has improved( only a little bit) since Triple H took over vince, but i still dont think wwe is as good as they should be considering the amount of incredible talent they and it just still feels disappointing watching weekly raw and or smackdown. Both the shows are filled to the brim with endless promos and raw is 3 HOURS LONG yet they only WRESTLE for maybe an hour in the world WRESTLING entertainment. A lot of talent feels very undervalued as well Finn balor deserves more than a crappy house of black ripoff stable, Shinsuke has somehow never been a world champion, a wrestler who looked destined for greatness and had a lot of potential in Akira Tozawa is now a comedy act. The rosters average age is also pretty high and reluctance to use and bring young stars from NXT like Bron, Melo seems pretty ridiculous considering theyve got nothing left to achieve in NXT and could be pretty massive on the main roster if presented well. Overall I am still reluctant in saying the wwe is back because theyve only gone from like a 0 to a 2 so far and have still a lot left to prove in my opinion."

[10.0] "TJPW revitalized my love for pro wrestling when I started watching it in 2021. Maki Itoh was the one that got me watching and I haven't missed a show since. It's mostly a fun and light-hearted promotion until it's not, as in many of those ladies can really work when the time comes. Also it's more of an idol-based promotion with no true babyface and heel dynamics but instead you simply cheer for who you're a fan of. Is it for everyone? No. Is it for me? Yes."

[7.0] "As a big fan of AEW since early 2020, I feel like I go back and forth on my feelings on the company quite a bit. On one hand the consistently high-quality wrestling, insanely talented roster, and unforgettable storylines (Hangman/Elite, MJF/Punk, MJF/Cole, Hangman/Swerve, Moxley/Kingston, Elite/BCC to name a few) make me want to give them a 9 or 10 some days. On the other, the awful misuse of talent, mismanagement spilling over into the actual product, constant fumbling of the third act, and nigh on ripping the prestige right out of almost every single belt (remember how great the TNT belt was before Sammy got a hold of it? ) have me barely paying attention through most Wednesday nights over the past year or so when prior to that I couldn't take my eyes of the damn TV for a second. It's a shame too, since I really do still enjoy the product overall but don't feel like I can get invested as much with how poorly everything has been handled as of late. Most titles don't mean anything anymore, the women's division is treated like an absolute joke despite having a ton of potential, every match ends EXACTLY as you'd expect, and booking to pop the crowd rather than upset anyone has led to the product starting to feel stale. On top of that, the ADHD booking that comes with every new star has wrecked any ability to get invested in any potential rises to the top of the card. Remember how things looked when Andrade, Malakai, Athena, and Miro first signed with the company? Andrade was set to put on some incredible matches, Malakai showed up with arguably the best debut in the company, Athena looked like the only person capable of ending Jade's TBS reign of terror, and Miro had arguably the best run in the history of the TNT belt, and now where are they? None of them have been on the company's flagship show in months, Andrade jumped ship, Miro has spent his time since dropping the belt in several lackluster feuds, Malakai hasn't been utilized properly since the HoB first won the trios titles, and Athena jobbed out to Jade and hasn't been seen on AEW TV in ages. Original guys aren't even immune to this either: Take a look at where Santana/Ortiz, Spears, Wardlow, and Penta (who should NOT be losing every single high-profile match he's involved in) have ended up. Frustrations aside, for every complaint I have with AEW we get storylines like Orange's International Title run, the continual rise and fall of Hangman, MJF's constantly dynamic development, and Wardlow's warpath towards destroying MJF; shows like All Out '21, Full Gear '21, Forbidden Door, Revolution '23, All Out '23, and WrestleDream; and matches like Hangman vs. Danielson, Orange vs. Moxley, Young Bucks vs. Lucha Bros, Page vs. Strickland, MJF vs. Danielson, Anarchy in the Arena 1, or Darby vs. Christian. Overall, I really wish I could rate them higher as the potential is absolutely there (as we saw back in '21) but with the GLARING issues they've been facing lately, even a 7 feels generous. Thankfully the roster is talented enough to carry them through the massive problems they've been having as of late."

[7.0] "Very good promotion that is mostly focused on shoot style and what makes pro wrestling good. Aside of the first show the matches are pretty short but very enjoyable, perfect for the people who likes the vibe of sleaze indy feds in Japan added with a great in-ring work on the mat and great striking. Like i said, they know what's good and i can't wait to see what's next for them."

[] "Rating AJPW is a challenge. The 90s marked a pinnacle of in-ring excellence, arguably the best for any wrestling promotion. However, the mass departure of talent in the 2000s and the emergence of NOAH had a profound impact, and AJPW hasn't fully rebounded. Despite featuring remarkable talents like Miyahara and hosting some impressive matches."

[] "While certainly not perfect, and often frustrating, AEW provides a high-budget and often high-quality alternative to other Western wrestling promotions. As the company continues to grow, it inevitably loses some of the charm it had in the first few years of its existence, but the freedom given to the performers and production team makes for a much rawer feeling than other major wrestling promotions. Simply put, if the other wrestling programs are too polished or not polished enough, AEW may be for you. The promotion has thus far successfully walked the line between revolutionary super-indy and high-budget major blockbuster promotion. While the AEW television product has many faults that their competitors also have, the company's strengths lie within its world-class roster of talent, targeting of an intelligent demographic, and raw feeling not found in other major Western promotions. Currently, it is the best wrestling promotion in the world, with plenty of room to grow, and an opportunity to become the greatest promotion of all-time."

[10.0] "im on a tjpw kick right now so i feel its time to rate the company. tjpw has the single most likable roster in the world for me, every single wrestler puts a smile on my face. tjpw also have the smoothest, best flowing shows in my opinion as well, they fly by and always have good pacing. theyve got some of the most absurd matches ever, such as any of the january 4th hyper misao vs shoko nakajima matches, the pool match, the amusement park challenge, and most recently the aquarium match. at the same time though, they have some of the most intense technical matches out there, most including miyu yamashita, rika tatsumi, miu watanabe, and yuka sakazaki (before she left). a lot of wrestlers havent gotten a chance at the main event yet, but are steadily proving they can make it on top in title matches. tjpw isnt for everyone but you should definitely give it a watch to see if its for you, theres a very good chance theres somebody or something youll like."

[5.0] "WWE is a polarizing company to review. I know it has some great moments, but it also has some bad moments. There are a lot of problems on this product. Examples are questionable booking, hot potato title reigns, part-timer champion, failed to push new talents, unnecessary releases, backstage politics, cheap nostalgia, etc. When WCW folded in 2001, WWE became the only dominant wrestling company. Unfortunately, it brought the worst of the company especially when WWE turned into PG. Many of the wrestling fans stopped watching because of the absurdity of the content. WWE hasn't been the same since the Attitude Era, the fun and magic of wrestling was gone. Some of the bookings were trying to insult our intelligence. It seems that the product doesn't care about quality but profit. Glad that there are emerging wrestling promotions out there to provide an alternative to wrestling fans in case WWE failed to meet our expectations. Surely WWE is the bigger platform for wrestler's exposure but the problem with treating their talent is what I am concerned of. At least, Triple H created his pet project, NXT, and somehow became watchable because of indie wrestling feel to it. I don't know if I'm going to have faith on somehow the company will improve, as I am waiting for the last 15 years to improve. Look, I'm not hating the product, I just want the WWE to be great also since it is the largest wrestling company in the world. Good thing when Triple H took over in 2022, the wrestling has somehow improved a little bit. And in terms of creating moments and amazing video packages, WWE provides it."

[2.0] "This PPV is considered one of the worst PPVs of all time, if not THE worst, and it's not unjustifiable to see why. Sluggish matches, questionable commentary, and the antics of one Jake Roberts make this a show that will live on in infamy. That being said, I can't write it off as 100% irredeemable for a number of reasons. Blanchard's fiery promo and serviceable match with Lane, the (believe it or not) garbage brawl with Abby and OMG, and the gut-bustingly hilarious "Soft Slam" call of Randy Rosenbloom save this from the absolute zero of ratings. That being said, it's a serious struggle of a show to get through for sure, and well worthy of its infamy. 2/10, watch Blanchard/Lane, the Jake promo, (if you like garbage matches) Abby/OMG, and the Sheik/Volkoff v Bushwhackers match for how hilariously awful it is, and hit everything else with the ol' DDT."

[7.0] "AEW was solid from 2019-2022. Watched their first event, Double or Nothing in 2019, and I think AEW may have been the potential of becoming the American version of NJPW because of it. I just hope that if they keep that momentum like those years, I will give them a 9 for now and if for some few years they manage to hold on to that momentum, it would be a solid 10. When its inception, I was so thrilled that finally we got to have a solid competition in American wrestling after 18 years. No doubt it was a milestone in wrestling history. One of the biggest signings include Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, CM Punk and Bryan Danielson and no doubt they helped develop this company. This company even lures lapsed wrestling fan after years of disappointment in the American wrestling show. This promotion, especially its first three years were the most enjoyable and the most entertaining period on its short history. Nowadays, I got mixed feelings with it. With constant new signings, bloated roaster, lack of authority, copying moments and anticlimactic spots. It was even worse when toxic die-hard fanatics were developed and bringing tribalism to the wrestling community. Another huge problem is the poor management of handling real incident backstage. Since the AEW All Out 2022 media scrum incident, AEW has been exposed as just another political tripping company and the company that couldn't handle real-heat situations. Also, the way of presenting their women's wrestlers is underwhelming. But still, their matches are quite good and very entertaining to watch. I just hope AEW would catch-up, as I have more faith on improving their product than the other big company in the US. But despite my criticisms, AEW is still the best wrestling promotion in USA. If you want your friends to introduce them to pro-wrestling, recommend them by watching AEW."

[2.0] "[1.00/5.00]: It's just so heinously sad at this point that what once was a respected alternative turned into the very thing they despised to be. AEW between 2019-2022 (up until Brawl Out) was must-see Television with no misses in their specials and consistent booking, AEW had the right to be earned as the best wrestling promotion in not only in America, but perhaps of the World, but now it's just a shell of its former self. I guess most of this is not what I care for anymore, I'm sure people who still watch it are still into it, but it's not for me anymore. Inconsistent booking of their wrestlers, having 0 character arcs for them to overcome, overreliance and burying of titles by overexposing them and Tony Khan's insufferable personality mixed in with some of the worst wrestling I have ever been subjected to. Kicking out of devastating finishers at 1, or sometimes not even selling it, Eddie Kingston as a whole, and the entire weekly package is just monotonic in its nature, you get practically the same feud every week, that's just copy/pasting of the previous ones. What once was the top babyface in Hangman Adam Page, is just going in random ever longing feuds with no context going behind it and nothing of value after it except for "oh they had that one brilliant bloody match where one stapled his man tits and the other drank his blood before spitting it out." Great match though but that's what AEW is just reduced to now, being a spectacle for one night and just ignoring everything else that makes wrestling great rest of the year because they don't make me or several of us care about the product. What I'm basically trying to get here is that AEW is the equivalent of a fast food chain, has everything that appeals to a less attention span individual, make everything to the likes of the consumer without putting much heart into it and then provide it in the greasiest looking bag lacking any presentation quality. It does have several room to improve, having multitudes of great talent at their disposal, but sadly that's not the case for quite some time now."

[8.0] "EDIT/Preface: I will first review Mid South, rate it and will then add additional commentary about the UWF, rate it and then average the two results} MID SOUTH WRESTLING: Bill Watts leaves me constantly upset at his commentary and politics. I completely loathe his incessant misspelling and/or mispronunciation of names over the years - it all becomes so overwhelmingly nauseating that I can't get past it. If you like racism and football you would give this territory a 10 but I am in neither of those camps. That being said: the in ring action was mostly unparalleled and consistently so. The stories were usually hot, the angles usually fun. The talent that passed through or helped anchor the ship lists as a true who's who of 80's talent and in many ways: MidSouth was the WWF before the WWF was the WWF. Bucket list wrestling is the Mid South careers of Junkyard Dog, Butch Reed, Ted DiBiase, Hercules Hernandez and others - lest we forget the rise of Jim Duggan and Magnum TA, the birth (& rise) of the Eaton/Condrey Midnight Express. Mid South brought us the peak of Buddy Landel, gave the wrestling world Barry Darsow, contained some superb stuff via Mr. Olympia and there was always another new star around the corner. But when he's on commentary; I want to punch Bill Watts in the testicles, brain and throat simultaneously. Also, you need to watch this stuff if just to see what Boyd Pierce is wearing. 7.75 (shows with no Bill Watts on commentary are always the better shows). THE UNIVERSAL WRESTLING FEDERATION: Even the brightest of stars will always fade out. In the beginning this was THE place for wrestling, 1986 was a banner year for American Professional Wrestling and the UWF was the leader if the pack with little struggle. By 1987 the wheels fell off and the racist TRASH was more heavy handed than ever before. Bill Watts is a deplorable human. The UWF in 1986 was beyond words awesome but 1987 was a toilet flushing. another 7.75... which makes the math part of this easy. The great is godly - the bad is overtly racist garbage that deserves to be chastised, that's this territory in a nutshell."

I remember being so excited when it was announced, knowing that people like Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, The Lucha Brothers and PAC were going to be at the forefront. Also seeing wrestlers who looked very different to who youd see in WWE like Darby Allin, Jungle Boy and Riho made me feel like this was going to be a really interesting, fun product. For a while it was that for me, but they always had growing pains. Unfortunately, even in 2024 a lot of those growing pains still exist. Women still getting very little time and exposure being the main one. My interest in AEW really began to taper off after Full Gear 2021, which felt like an end of an era for the company. Since then they have become less and less of an alternative product and have taken on more WWE-isms which have personally kept me from investing as much time to them as I once did. I like to keep up with whats happening and even watch the odd PPV, but I have a feeling that AEW simply isnt what I hoped it would be. Or worse, it wasnt what was advertised in the first place."

Not sure I know how to put my finger on it, but matches *look* better and often feel better paced in NJPW. For example, I loved Kenny Omega v Will Ospreay from last year's WK whereas I could take or leave their Forbidden Door clash from later in the year. The former built from a slow pace and felt much more like a proper wrestling contest to me. All in all I plan to watch more NJPW over the coming year and I am looking forward to it."

[7.0] "WoW is a modern iteration of GLoW, and by modern I mean much less campy. Yes, the gimmicks for some of these girls are very cliché, but still it remains the lovely evening's guilty pleasure of any wrestling enjoyer, in or not in the business itself. The production values are indeed good, which helps a lot in distinguishing the good product from the bad one. And unlike GLoW, the toned-down 80's campiness allows for more qualitative female workers, such as Barbi Hayden, Malia Hosaka, Holidead, Tessa Blanchard and April Mendez, to come in and get the product over without losing street cred themselves. Still, though, too many girls brought from other backgrounds on the sole basis of physical appearance and brought onscreeen waaay too early. But WoW, overall, has two massive yeat clearly visible pitfalls to avoid in the coming year if they want to grow and secure themselves some sort of TV coverage for the years ahead : the pitfall of scaring real wrestling girls away by bringing too many green girls on-screen, and the pitfall of going woke / anti-men with Jeanie Buss (and/or evil influence around/on her), which would virtually kill the company on the spot."

[10.0] "I am so glad I discovered this promotion in Japan. The greatest wrestling promotion in the world, and I am not even exaggerating. After years of false hopes on improving the American wrestling product in 2019, I subscribed to NJPW and began to fall in love with it. The formula for NJPW is simple yet perfect way to build-up their matches. The NJPW Road shows are a great way to progress their feuds leading to their culminated match. Their way to choose a champion is well-planned, only problem is when EVIL won the IWGP Heavyweight Champion in 2020 but glad it is a short reign and they decided to put the title back to Tetsuya Naito. The Young Lions system is a great showcase for rookies who wants to become future NJPW icons. This promotion created greats like Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata, Shinsuke Nakamura, Tetsuya Naito, Kazuchika Okada, Hiromu Takahashi and Jay White and this promotion honed the craft of Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Tomohiro Ishii, Shingo Takagi and Will Ospreay. But their main specialty, is obviously the matches. The entire match is like an art canvas and the moves are the stroke of paintbrush and when it's done, a masterpiece is created. Their matches wouldn't make you disappointed, you will be joining and enjoying the ride, feel their pain from their strikes and most importantly, applaud their efforts. This promotion won't make you insult your intelligence, this promotion is untouchable against the tribalists, and this promotion will make your money's worth of the match. Surely it has ups and downs, especially during the Inokism era. But with the help of Hiroshi Tanahashi, NJPW rise up to its dark days and became the best promotion to be cherished. I love NJPW and hope they never change. Thank God for Antonio Inoki for creating this wonderful promotion."

[9.0] "Let me make one thing clear, I am basing this off of sheer match quality. I should make that clear. Not events, not backstage drama, not the wrestlers and not Tony Khan. The only thing I will say is there PPV Build up sucks and storylines are non existent. After watching 51 AEW Matches I have come to the consensus. This is an okay promotion. The matches are good but some aren't as god tier as their made out to be. They get really good crowds for every week usually full of really great fans. Every match I've seen is just wrestling at its finest (if it is actual wrestling.) Good stuff. Now the bad that I observed. They suffer from a lot of things that there fanbase claims they don't have or what they wish you wouldn't look into. For example, they marked themselves as a real sport however I notice that in some cases there are hardly any rules. Wrestlers are free to wander around the outside of the ring freely when no such stipulation has been added that would allow them to do so without being counted out. The refs seem to let that slide. It's a lot like ECW refs if you know what I mean. No rules which is okay but ECW made it clear there were no rules. I would also like to say that it prides itself on not being sports entertainment and actual pro wrestling. It's fans (this is the last time I bring them up, this is not meant to be a hit piece) pride themselves on the idea that this has zero sports entertainment. Through my observations this is baselessly untrue. This is in the debate for having the same if not more sports entertainment then AEW. Some of the matches can be really overbooked and have way too many false finishes, so the same issues Black and Gold NXT had. They also it feels like overuse those tropes a lot and have a lot of heavy theatrics. Some things are there that I wouldn't call wrestling but that's subjective all I'll say. Every match kinda feels the same at points. Start, Action, Slow Pace, Action, Slow Pace, Spots, False Finish A, Spots, Interference (optional), False Finish B, Action, Drama, Climax, Finish. It's all very formulaic. And you know I feel like they are just as sports entertainment as WWE when it comes to in ring. They do overuse gimmick matches it feels to me. Texas Death Matches, Tornado Tags you know. ESPICALLY when it comes to TDM but I digress I could just be looking at it wrong or something. I feel like it half the stuff they market themselves around is appealing but when you actually watch and see how they're matches are structured, how the promos are done, it's a very WWE-NXT Black and Gold inspired schtick just slightly tweaked. Maybe it's just me. Conclusion: AEW offers something for everyone however despite what it markets itself around, it is very much the same sports entertainment as WWE and suffers from repetitive and some what exhausting matches but in ring wise it delivers on every hit. 8/10 good."

Even when the in ring quality isn't amazing, the somehow wrap you in with sheer fun and enthusiasm. TJPW is the prefect promotion to cheer you up due to how much fun it is through comedy or just having fun. It still however manages to have consistently great matches and great main events from an in ring standpoint. One of my favourite promotions."

[4.0] "I really liked the initial AEW, having a few big names in the promotion was really refreshing. Their biggest mistake was just signing anybody with a name, especially ones who left WWE under the covid situation. Lots of good wrestlers there, but the promotion stood out the most when it was independent wrestlers with a few big names. The women's division is non-existent, WWE during the diva era featured women more than AEW does, which is really saying something. Doing cross promotion stuff with the likes of NJPW & TNA is fantastic, but AEW has slowly became a second rate WWE. Biggest thing they need to do imo is start doing the little things right. There's no long-term planning (aside from the devil thing, but the pay-off for that made no sense as both MJF & Adam Cole are injured.) Lastly, Tony Khan needs to get off Twitter sooner rather than later. You wouldn't catch Vince McMahon crying about stuff online like Tony does. Needs to stop acting like a mark and actually get a grip of himself and of his promotion."

For years, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn made this promotion home, and appeared at most shows throughout a calendar year, Josh Alexander cut his teeth here, and Mike Bailey got signed to Impact from his work as C4 Champ. Right now, you have Junior Benito, 22 years old and already one of the best talents on the Indie circuit, it's literally only a matter of time before he's signed by TNA or AEW, he's that good. The best Indie promotion in Canada, bar none, and one of the best in the World. 10/10 for that reason."

If you're looking for a Meltzer five-star classic you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking for a throwback to GLOW, a fun, intentionally goofy, easily digestible women's wrestling promotion, you're home. Characters are big and bright and colorful and cheesy and I love it. Promos are ironically enjoyable. Storylines are simple and straightforward. The wrestlers themselves are fine at their jobs. Honestly I'm giving an entire point here though just to the production values. Thank fucking god there's another American wrestling promotion outside of WWE/AEW/TNA/MLW/NWA where the sound balances are leveled and it doesn't look like it was shot with an iPhone 4. Poor production values are an absolute plague in indie wrestling and WOW is an oasis of being able to understand what someone is saying into a microphone. Like I said nothing about this is groundbreaking or going to be winning any awards but if nothing else it's supremely watchable."

Tony Khan and the mark fans of aew make it impossible to enjoy. Aew was never needed. Wrestling was fine without aew, aew hasn't improved wrestling, it's just hurt companies like Roh and njpw"

You just cannot hope continuity for storylines if you're holding shows every 6 months. Storylines with no sense whatsoever, some which only served to diminish the performer in question (e, g, a masked wrestler putting her mask on the line because she did not have a match in the card) and also matches in which the bookers went to bussiness by themselves so as to be seen as the hero. All these and more are some of the symptoms which have killed Proyecto Wrestling Series' credibility in the chilean scene. It's better for it to stay dead now, as there is no clear signs anything will change in the foreseable future."

The original version from 2000-2001 had its issues sure, like the very green wrestlers besides Selina Majors and Thug, but there some that showed promise and others were committed to their gimmicks (as cheesy as some were), they had several feuds going on to keep viewers invested, the best being Selina vs Thug. The more recent version has better ring work overall and has more wrestlers with experience to work with the greener girls. The show doesn't drag like so many other of the televised shows these days. Great production value. Matches can be short and might not satisfy those who need a match full of spots to keep their attention. I'm glad they're getting a consistent run this time and wish them well as they continuing to grow."

The hard hitting, martial arts based strikes with the king road's spirit is always entertaining to watch, so even in a bad show you're almost always going to see at least a couple of entertaining matches in the worst case, and the absolute best bangers if the years in the best. The only defect, that sadly is a big one that I can find in Noah is how they're willing to push any wrestler from more popular companies (like NJPW) over their own homegrown talents, so it can be very frustrating getting invested in guys like Kenoh, Kiyomiya, etc. only to see a foreign wrestler going over them over and over again. I hope the day the booking regime changes this company can shine like they deserve on the japanese wrestling scene again."

There's this vibe of everyone wanting to help each other improve, even if occasionally things get testy, and then everyone goes back to their everyday lives. It feels less like the world's going to end based on the result of every match, and instead more like if you didn't win this time, you can always try again tomorrow. That's refreshing. It may not work for others, but it works great for me. [January 7, 2024 edit: Adjusting my score to a 10, as I am more enthusiastic about Ice Ribbon than I was with my original score. With the group of debuts in August, the purchase of the company by Rebellions, the return of Yuuki Mashiro, and the looming return of Tsukasa Fujimoto, there's a lot to be excited about in Ice Ribbon's future.]"

Beyond that, every performer has a character, purpose, or TV time, something I can't say about the bloated rosters of WWE, AEW, and NJPW. Second of all, the decision behind giving every wrestler in the company a 45 day deal, which expired at the start of 2002, was just dumb, because if you want to start a promotion, you need to have guys who can work, and the WWF/E could not pick up in the Royal Rumble season (I mean, look at the example of Mr. Perfect). This was just a company, which you could compare to the WWA, because both of them failed miserably in their conquest to create an alternative for the WWF/E."

[] "The first Sukeban show wasn't great but had some cool ideas, and I was interested in how they'd improve the second show. Instead they got worse. While everyone is rightfully concerned about this money mark company's business model, I do want to compliment Sukeban for a couple of things: 1. Investment in production design and new venues, and 2. They work hard in the fashion/art/TikTok realm to appeal to non-wrestling fans. This is very good! Independent wrestling shows need fans and growth to survive, and simply appealing to us nerds on Cagematch isn't going to cut it - I often fantasize about what new audiences are out there in unique locations, as the average person can definitely enjoy seeing wrestling once in a while even if they aren't rushing to leave reviews. To a normal person not desensitized like us, a basic dropkick or boston crab is still cool and all you need. I hope other promotions (especially those refusing to leave their little warehouse "academies") learn these lessons from Sukeban. HOWEVER. The entire rejection of modern independent wrestling trends feels both Orientalizing and disrespectful. The attempt to cultivate a casual fanbase means none of the women stand out as individuals, it's just a mix of c-r-r-azy moments for random passersby (Women wrestlers? Wow! ASIAN wrestlers? Wild! ). What purpose is there to fly in Unagai Sayaka, one of the most beautiful, colorful, vibrant, charismatic, funny, and talented women in the world, then give her a new name and put her in new gear? It totally defeats the purpose of booking her in the first place and definitely doesn't get her as "over" with these new fans. Yet at the same time, I'm sure that for so, so many of the wrestlers on this roster, the opportunity to compete in America presumably pays well and is a treat. I'm sure it would be fun to fly to a new country and dress up in wacky costumes! But it also sends a message to independent Japanese and American promotions: "Fuck you, you don't know shit, we're the best because we have money." That's completely untrue, as I do believe many companies' biggest weakness is simply lack of exposure. If money is hoarded and then utilized only on something flippant, no one really wins. You don't want the height of your company to be Lucha Underground: a brief, bright moment destined for failure because it was built on spite and bad business sense. You want to make something lasting and important, to draw in new casual fans as well as appeal to diehards, to leave the bad decisions of the past behind and keep the good decisions of the past with you moving forward, to spend money to make money. Instead, we're getting this: An obvious bust from an inflated ego. And just like its predecessors, I hope future promoters learn from Sukeban and incorporate its best elements. Ultimately, the matches on this card are merely passable and bland because that's the style commissioned. For people like us, the main appeal is seeing our favorite Japanese talent in a funny new context. If that's all anyone is looking for, I recommend the video of The Great Sasuke singing Bon Jovi at karaoke after a Chikara show, or that new TJPW video where the wrestlers spend a day hanging out at the aquarium."

ECW went through some phases of having luchadores/cruiserweights and other overseas talent compete in showcase matches, before settling into 'their style' which was ultra-violent, weapon-filled and often bloody matches, often seemingly trying to push the envelope further. Obviously these type of matches weren't good for the talent, or I'd arguably say for it's fans either, as this is what they'd come to love & expect all the time, and they'd be most vocal & unimpressed if their needs weren't satisfied, which can drag down "good matches" and ruin the viewing experience somewhat. ECW was quite a different alternative to weekly Wrestling shows at the time, that many promotions have long since tried to imitate. Definitely a promotion and style of wrestling that isn't going to be for everyone, but there's something undeniably quite magical about ECW that is truly difficult to explain."

The wrestling often left a lot to be desired, but what is to be expected with a bunch of rookies with limited training. What really made this show work was that a lot of women were committed to their colorful, exaggerated gimmicks and that kept a lot of fans (especially casual ones) invested. The skits and music bits, that were far too numerous, were usually pretty bad, although they certainly tried.
